Customer: A.B.Myr

39635 Detroit Industrial Freeway
Belleville, Mi. 48111
Contact:
Ronald Breaugh, C.F.O

Date of Inquiry: Began February 1998

Their Needs: Interior Architecture, Demo, Construction, Electrical, Plumbing, Furnishings, Floor Coverings and Wall Coverings.

Existing Conditions: A.B. Myr’s personnel were living with an outdated facility, which was not planned for the extensive electronic equipment used today in designing paint lines for the automotive industry. Their building was very institutional and acoustically poor with its original 1950’s era metal banker partitions and vinyl tile flooring. Needless to say, the company was having trouble recruiting top engineers.

Implementation Date: Completed in 6 Phases ending in August 2001.

Project Notes: The result they sought was a state of the art building that incorporated an ergonomic approach to their electronic equipment, as well as a warm and inviting place for top Engineers and employees to call home.

Space Care’s design team interviewed all department managers and most employees to learn about their tasks and work habits. We began creating workstation standards to address a proper amount of desk space allowing each office to support the computerized and manual portions of each individual’s responsibilities. We then moved individuals into groups where people would be in close proximity to those they needed to communicate with.

After A.B.Myr management confirmed our data, Space Care designed a master plan phasing the entire re-construction. All work had to be performed while the company was operating as usual. In order to maintain a high level of productivity as the facility was renovated, much of the work took place during evenings and weekends to accomplish our goal.

Today, A.B. Myr enjoys a state of the art facility, which not only greatly enhances their image, but also supports the tasks of the people employed there.
